Short biographic summary
Gianfranco Incarnato, a member of the Italian Diplomatic Service, rank of Minister-Counselor, has been Deputy General Director for Political Affairs and Principal Director for Security, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation since September 2015.
Born in Milan in 1957, Mr. Incarnato began his diplomatic career in 1985, serving as a political officer in Mogadishu in 1987, then in Paris, from 1990.
In Rome, MFA, he was Head of the Legal office in the General Directorate for human resources, from 1994 to 1997.
From 1997 to 2001, he worked at the Italian Mission to the United Nations, New York, as Head of the disarmament and peace-keeping division. In this position, he also dealt with African issues in the Security Council.
From 2001 to 2005, he worked at the Italian Permanent Mission to the European Union, Brussels, national representative in the civilian crisis management committee and the political-military group.
In Rome, from 2005 to 2009, he worked as Director for planning and legislative issues, MFA.
Deputy Permanent Representative at the Italian Delegation to NATO, Brussels, from 2009 to 2013, he then served as Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister for the Environment, in Rome.
