In the afternoon, the traditional ceremony of Christmas and New Year’s greetings from diplomatic corps in Rome to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, took place at the Quirinale palace.
After the welcoming address by the “Dean” of the diplomatic corps and Apostolic Nuncio, Mons. Emil Paul Tscherrig, President Mattarella delivered a statement at the presence of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to the Republic of Italy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, and representatives from the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies took also part to the ceremony, in the “Salone dei Corazzieri”.
