At the invitation of the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, Tatiana Valovaya, Italy’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Luigi Maria Vignali, visited the Beyond Lab, a United Nations programme dedicated to innovation for sustainable development and to an intergenerational approach to public policymaking. The initiative is implemented in partnership with UN agencies, Member State governments, NGOs and private-sector actors.
During the meeting, Beyond Lab representatives presented the programme’s main areas of work, in particular Youth Moving Beyond GDP (new well-being indicators beyond GDP), What’s Next (greater youth engagement in decision-making processes) and Futures Balance (improved assessment of the impact of government policies on future generations). In particular, Futures Balance leverages artificial intelligence to anticipate the long-term effects of public decisions on future generations, harnessing the potential of emerging technologies and quantum computing to ensure their sustainability over time.
Ambassador Vignali also underlined Italy’s interest in exploring further opportunities for cooperation on sustainable longevity.
