class=\"s5\">The <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Ambassador Vincenzo Grassi<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, took the floor today during<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> the <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Interactive dialogue on the<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">right to food<\/span><span class=\"s5\">,<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in the framework of the <\/span><span class=\"s5\">5<\/span><span class=\"s5\">2nd<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> session of the Human Rights Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s6\">Climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic, international geopolitical and financial instability, the loss of biodiversity are severely impacting on food security and the right to have access to sustain<\/span><span class=\"s6\">able, safe, and nutritious food<\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u201d, <\/span><span class=\"s5\">stated the Permanent Representative<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> of Italy,<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> adding that<\/span><span class=\"s5\">Russia\u2019s war of aggression has further aggravated the global food crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s5\">Against this backdrop,<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> he underlined that<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> Italy is playing in many ways a prominent role for the definition of a food security strategy, also in order to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">The <\/span><span class=\"s5\">the Permanent Representative<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> of Italy<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> recalled that t<\/span><span class=\"s5\">he Matera Declaration, adopted during the Italian G20 Presidency, recognized for the first time that food security is a priority of the international agenda. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">He also recalled that i<\/span><span class=\"s5\">n response to the food crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, Italy made efforts \u2013 in the framework of the G7 \u2013 to address its impact in the Mediterranean region, launching the Mediterranean Ministerial Dialogue on the Food Crisis. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s5\">Furthermore, <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Amb<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Grassi underlined that \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s6\">In the context of the UN Food Systems Summit, whose coordination hub is located at FAO\u2019s premises, Italy hosted the pre-Summit in Rome in 2021 and next July will host again in Rome the Food Systems Summit Stocktaking Moment, high-profile event <\/span><span class=\"s6\">convened by Secretary General <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Guterres<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> to take an initial stock of the progress of the transformation of food systems and to inspire a new form of global momentum and solidarity<\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u201d<\/span><span
