To celebrate the start of Italy\u2019s new mandate at the Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term, the Permanent Mission is organizing the concert \u201cFrom Morricone to Bacalov: the Music and Screen of Southern Italian Cinema” at the Assembly Hall of the Palais des Nations on 5 February 2026 at 6pm.<\/p>\n

We propose an innovative event connecting music and cinema, which originates from the European Union-funded project \u201cMusic4D\u201d, led by Palermo\u2019s Conservatory \u201cAlessandro Scarlatti\u201d in partnership with an array of Italian Conservatories and Universities and aimed at developing the intersection between music and digital technologies.<\/p>\n

The orchestra, composed by young musicians, will guide the audience on a journey through soundtracks arranged by masters such as Ennio Morricone and Luis Bacalov and related to some of the most significant films set in Southern Italy, including \u201cIl Gattopardo\u201d, \u201cNuovo Cinema Paradiso\u201d and \u201cThe Postman\u201d.<\/p>\n

This initiative wishes to celebrate our mandate at the Human Rights Council, by relying on the power of music and cinema as instruments for mutual understanding, for cultural cooperation and ultimately for peace among nations.<\/p>\n
