Inauguration of the exhibition \u201cInclusion and Disability: The Solfagnano Charter \u2013 Nothing about us, without us\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"196\" data-end=\"521\">Today in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Geneva the I<\/span><\/span>talian Minister for Disabilities, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Alessandra Locatelli\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>addressed the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Nations Human Rights Council<\/span><\/span> on behalf of the Italian Government, marking the start of Italy\u2019s new term as a member for 2026\u20132028.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"828\">In her remarks, Minister Locatelli stated: \u201cItaly will work to build new bridges, promote dialogue among regions and traditions and ensure that human rights remain at the heart of the international agenda. We undertake this mandate with humility and responsibility, but also with great determination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"1487\">She recalled the international framework of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities<\/span><\/span>, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, reaffirming Italy\u2019s commitment to ensuring full participation in working, social, recreational, cultural, sporting and political life. She added: \u201cSeeing the potential in every person, not their limitations; investing and offering opportunities; ensuring universal accessibility in every aspect of daily life; and leaving no one behind.\u201d In this context, she highlighted the upcoming <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games<\/span><\/span> as \u201ca strong and tangible signal of how every person\u2019s potential and talents can always emerge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"2160\">At the close of the proceedings, Minister Locatelli inaugurated the travelling exhibition \u201cInclusion and Disability: The Solfagnano Charter \u2013 Nothing about us, without us\u201d, inspired by the final document of the first G7 Inclusion and Disability meeting (2024). The initiative will visit all G7 countries throughout 2026 and showcases the Charter\u2019s eight priorities through concrete, everyday-life examples. The panels combine graphic and textual information designed to be accessible to persons with visual impairments and include QR-code links to additional content available in multiple languages (French, Italian, English, Spanish and LIS).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2535\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The Minister also conveyed special thanks to the co-sponsors\u2014<span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Cyprus<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Iraq<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Mexico<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Montenegro<\/span><\/span>\u2014which, together with Italy, are members of the Group of Friends on the Cultural Rights of Persons with Disabilities, launched in Geneva on 2 December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Today in Geneva the Italian Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli\u00a0 addressed the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on behalf of the Italian Government, marking the start of Italy\u2019s new term as a member for 2026\u20132028.
