{"id":2881,"date":"2023-05-11T17:54:03","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T15:54:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/italiarappginevra.esteri.it\/?p=2881"},"modified":"2023-05-12T06:58:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T04:58:00","slug":"intervento-dellitalia-in-occasione-della-36ma-sessione-speciale-del-consiglio-diritti-umani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/italiarappginevra.esteri.it\/it\/news\/dalla_rappresentanza\/2023\/05\/intervento-dellitalia-in-occasione-della-36ma-sessione-speciale-del-consiglio-diritti-umani\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement of Italy during the 36th Special Session of the Human Rights Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"null\"><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Deputy Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Marie Sol Fulci, took the floor today during the 36<sup>th<\/sup> Special Session of the Human Rights Council on the human rights impact of the ongoing conflict in the Sudan.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"null\"><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"null1\"><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Italy is deeply concerned about the deterioration of the human rights situation in Sudan following the outbreak of hostilities on 15 April, which have already caused a death toll of hundreds and thousands of injured\u201d, <\/span><\/i><\/span><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">stated the Deputy Permanent Representative, adding that Italy is also \u201c<i>gravely concerned about the exacerbation of the already dire humanitarian situation in the country, as well as the sharp increase of internally displaced persons and refugees in neighbouring countries\u201d.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"null\"><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"null1\"><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Italy calls on all actors involved to immediately end the armed confrontations, protect civilians and refrain from attacks on civilian infrastructures, including medical and education facilities, as well as to enable rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access\u201d, <\/span><\/i><\/span><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">she further stated, expressing Italy\u2019s<i> <\/i><\/span><\/span><span class=\"null1\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">supports for \u201c<i>all mediations efforts &#8211; including by the UN, the African Union, IGAD and the League of Arab States &#8211; to achieve a lasting ceasefire and resume an inclusive political dialogue with a view to establishing a transitional civilian government<\/i>\u201d.
