Intellectual Property: WIPO General Assemblies in Geneva.

The 59th session of the WIPO General Assemblies is being held in Geneva, with the participation of 192 Member Countries and over 1000 delegates.

On the agenda intellectual property and the agreements administered by the Organization, as well as institutional and budgetary issues. Italy defends the allocation of resources to protect geographical indications.

The Vice Permanent Representative of Italy to the International Organizations, Amb. Massimo Bellelli, intervened today at the 59th WIPO General Assemblies.

Amb. Bellelli highlighted the importance of promoting an international system of intellectual property that is balanced, holistic and effective, in line with the 2030 Agenda.

The Vice Permanent Representative also reiterated Italy's request for more incisive action by WIPO for the promotion of the Lisbon Union and the protection of geographical indications.

On the occasion of the 59th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Permanent Mission of Italy to the International Organizations in Geneva in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture food and forestry policies and tourism (MIPAAFT), the Italian Trade Agency in Switzerland (ITA), ENIT and Italian consortia promoted an exhibition aiming at presenting the Italian Geographical Indications system. Italian agri-food excellencies and geographical indications are example of how tradition, innovation, technological process and attention to quality have made Italy the largest holder of certified products in the world.
The event included other excellencies of Italian culture and tradition such as dance, music and fashion, hosting a concert and Couture High Fashion Dresses designed by the stylists Roberta Redaelli. Villa Visconti Borromeo Letta of Lainate, with its beautiful Nymphaeum and waterfalls, has been the exclusive location hosting the Giardini all’Italiana collection campaign ( www.villalittalainate.it; www.amicivillalitta.it).

Como’s Silk Museum, in occasion of the WIPO event, supplied a set of print stamps from the twentieth century and a rare video which recounts Como’s silk production, dating back to the thirties www.museosetacomo.com.
