3 December – International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Proclaimed in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 47/3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities represents an important moment for the promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities with a view to further enhance their participation in the political, economic, social and cultural life of our society.
Within the United Nations framework, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted in 2006, has given a new impetus to the promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities which today are relevant in numerous international instruments, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to which the theme of the 2019 edition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities refers: "Promoting the participation of people with disabilities and their leadership: take action on the 2030 Development Agenda".
