“Since the 10th of December 1948, the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has asserted respect for individuals and their fundamental freedoms as a right that belongs to all humankind.
This year, the theme ‘Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All’ reminds us of the goals that have not been achieved in so many parts of the world.
Dramatic evidence of this is the brutal aggression suffered by the Ukrainian people, the repression of those who oppose violence against women – even throughinacceptable death sentences – and the attempts to silence the voices of youths who demonstrate peacefully to ask for freedom and greater space for participation. Those struck are always the most vulnerable and undefended.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights commits all the members of the International Community to behave consistently with these lofty and inalienable principles.
The Italian Republic, in compliance with its constitutional dictates and in a spirit of genuine multilateralism, reaffirms its commitment in favour of initiatives to defend and promote human rights developed in both a national and international context.”
