Geographical Indications: Identities of Tradition

From October 2nd to October 5th, the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations and other international Organizations in Geneva, on the occasion of the 57th series of meetings of the Assemblies of Member States of WIPO, organized the exhibition “Geographical Indications: Identities of Territories”, 

The inaugural event took place on October 4th, at the main building of World Intellectual Property Organization.

Identity and tradition are the key elements of success of the Italian agro-food and wine sector. That is why Italy decided to present, at the margins of WIPO General Assemblies, its national Geographical Indications system with an exhibition on the most significant appellations of origin and geographical indications. Representatives of producers and consortia were present and tasting of agro-food products and wine were available for all the distinguished delegates.

The Exhibition was promoted and organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Italian Permanent Mission in Geneva and several famous Italian consortia in the agro-food sector, namely: Asiago, Gorgonzola, Parmigiano Reggiano, Mortadella di Bologna, Pancetta piacentina, Coppa piacentina, Salame piacentino, Salamini italiani alla cacciatora, Chianti, Soave, Castel del Monte, Prosecco.
