The Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva met today with the Director General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti.
The meeting provided with an opportunity to exchange views on current relations between Italy and the centre of research directed by Ms. Gianotti and on current and future research programs, largely based on the “Large Hadron Collider” (LHC).
Director General Gianotti highlighted the important contribution by Italy, both to the Lab and – through the National Institute of Nuclear Physics – to the experiments being carried on. Also thanks to a longstanding tradition in the field and to their high-level competence, Italian researchers have great visibiliy and important positions within the Laboratory.
Ambassador Cornado gave assurances to Director Gianotti about the full support of Italy to CERN’s initiatives and congratulated on her for the excellent coordination between CERN and the Italian research system, specifically with the Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN).
