The Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Gian Lorenzo Cornado, took part today in the interactive dialogue on Libya, within the framework of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council. Further to the oral update on the human rights situation in Libya of the Office of the High Commissioner, Michelle Bachelet, Ambassador Cornado reaffirmed Italy’ssupports to the political and reconciliation efforts carried out by the United Nations under the leadership of the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ghassan Salamé. Ambassador Cornado also reiterated Italy’s support toLibya’s efforts to improve the human rights situation, eradicate terrorism, manage migration centers and combat human trafficking networks.
