Global Compact on Migration. Statement by the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte

“The Global Compact on Migration is a document that deals with themes and topics strongly felt by citizens themselves: we therefore deem appropriate to bring the debate to the Parliament and to subordinate the final decisions to the outcome of such a discussion, as it was decided by Switzerland too.

As a consequence, the Government will not take part to the Marrakech meeting, and reserves to join the Global Compact only after the Parliamentary debate.”
