Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation Luigi Di Maio on the meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva
“The Foreign Ministry expresses its appreciation for the opening of the work session of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva today, the first tangible step in the political process on the Syrian crisis, and applauds the United Nations Special Envoy Geir Pedersen and his team for their untiring effort to mediate between the parties, which has enabled the formation of the Committee. Italy remains firmly convinced that the solution to the Syrian crisis can only be pursued through a credible and inclusive political process along the path outlined by Security Council Resolution 2254.”
