The first Global Refugee Forum was held in Geneva between 16 and 18 december 2019.
The GRF is a multi-sided event organized by UNHCR and Switzerland as a follow-up to the Global Compact on Refugees, adopted by the United Nations in December 2018.
The event was structured in plenary sessions, thematic tables and membership commitments to support refugees (energy and infrastructure, protection, work, education)
Among the interventions in the Opening Session, that of the High Commissioner Filippo Grandi, of the Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres and of the representatives of the five co-cionvening States (Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Germany, Pakistan, Turkey), Heads of State and Government and Ministers of Member States, as well as representatives of the private sector, civil society and other high-level supporters.
The Italian delegation was led by the Hon. Emanuela Claudia Del Re, who presented Italy’s best practices and commitments during the Plenary Session.
