The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed great satisfaction with the renewal of Filippo Grandi’s mandate as UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for the January 2021 – June 2023 period.
“This renewal of mandate is a recognition of the excellent work carried out by Filippo Grandi in recent years and of his tireless commitment to protecting refugees and the most vulnerable people in the world”, Minister Di Maio stressed.
“The renewal of Filippo Grandi’s prestigious mandate, which we strongly supported, is a source of pride and satisfaction for Italy and acknowledges Italy’s commitment to safeguarding human life and fundamental individual rights”, the Minister concluded.
