The Internal Transport Committee (ITC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has adopted today, during its 83rd session, a ministerial resolution on enhancing connectivity in emergency situations.
Italy is among the supporting countries of this document which addresses the critical issues that emerged in the transport sector following the pandemic and aims at promoting common action in response to present and future emergencies. Sustainable internal transport represents an effective tool to mitigate the pandemic impact and, at the same time, ensure the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The high-level political segment of the session held a discussion on the theme “Back to a sustainable future: achieving resilient connectivity for post-Covid-19 recovery and economic growth”, acknowledging the specific contribution of the ITC; the Italian Ministry of Transport is also represented in the Bureau.
