Participation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Andrea Orlando, to the 109 International Labour Conference

On June 14, the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Andrea Orlando, intervened with a video message to the 109 International Labour Conference of the ILO (link).

In order to promote a global, human-centered recovery, which can contribute to the foundation of a sustainable and resilient socio-economic environment, the Minister stressed the necessity to implement an inclusive vaccination campaign, to put in place differentiated measures to support the economic sectors and groups of workers more vulnerable and most affected by the crisis, with a particular focus on gender equality and inter-generational balance, and to strengthen and tailor social protection schemes, as envisaged by the Italian G20 Presidency.

“Social protection must be universal”, Minister Orlando stressed, “because in a situation of deep and rapid shifts, such as the ones induced by the digital revolution and by the ecological transition, there are workers and families who need to be assisted, in order to have the right to a decent life granted”.
