“Due to the sharp increase in the number of needy and vulnerable people, it is of the utmost importance to rethink how to provide them with as much humanitarian assistance as possible.” Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni said as much at the virtual event “High-level Humanitarian Event on Anticipatory Action: A Commitment to Act Ahead of Crises” organized jointly by the United Kingdom, Germany and the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
“In humanitarian assistance,” she continued, “trying to prevent critical situations is the most cost-effective way to improve the lives of millions of people. Italy will therefore be continuing to finance preventative action initiatives, and for that purpose 5 million euro will be made available to the most important organisations active in this sector”.
