Italy’s participation in the 39th session of the Working Group of the Universal Periodic Review on Human Rights

The 39th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group, a mechanism of review between the Member States of the United Nations on the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, began today in Geneva. During this session, which will end on November 12, the human rights situation in the following countries are scheduled to be examined: Antigua and Barbuda, Eswatini, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Sudan, Suriname, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tanzania and Trinidad and Tobago. Italy, a member of the Human Rights Council, will intervene by formulating recommendations in the interactive dialogue dedicated to each of the States under review, confirming the Italian commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights and its support to the important role carried out by the United Nations in this area.
