The 42nd session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group, a mechanism of review among the Member States of the United Nations on the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, began today within the Human Rights Council in Geneva. During the session, which will end on February 3rd, the human rights situation in the following countries will be examined: Argentina, Benin, Czechia, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Japan, Pakistan, Peru, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Zambia. Italy will intervene by formulating recommendations in the interactive dialogue dedicated to each State under review, confirming the Italian commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights and its support to the important role carried out by the United Nations in this area.
