Safeguarding and defending the dignity of all people is enshrined in our Constitution. It is a priority for all institutions, at all levels, to combat all forms of discrimination, violence and intolerance and to invest in prevention and victim support.
It is also our duty to keep the international community focused on the persecution and abuse still being perpetrated in many nations around the world on the basis of sexual orientation, as the President of the Republic also recalled today. Such unacceptable discrimination and violence undermines people’s dignity and must always be kept under the spotlight. This is another issue on which the Government is, and always will be, at the forefront.
