The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in Ginevra for the 70° anniversary of CERN

The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, paid a visit to Geneva on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Upon his arrival, the Head of State visited the headquarters of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN and other International Organizations, where he addressed the Mission’s personnel.

In the afternoon, President Mattarella took part in the ceremony of the 70th anniversary of CERN, together with the leaders of the Member and Associated States of the Center and the observers, which was interspersed with speeches by the Director General, Fabiola Gianotti,  the Prime Minister, Eliezer Rabinovici and the Heads of State and Government.
