The exhibition “The Challenge. The Innovation of Italian Design in Sports”, promoted by the Permanent Representation to the United Nations as part of Italy’s sports diplomacy efforts, has arrived in Geneva.

Inaugurated on 20 April in the presence of the Director General of WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization, Daren Tang, the exhibition showcases Italy’s outstanding creative capacity in sports design. From sportswear and accessories that have set genuine trends, to aerodynamic bicycles and racing cars, and even cutting-edge engineering works for multifunctional stadiums, the exhibition offers compelling testimony to Italy’s extraordinary ability to innovate across the sporting ecosystem, combining technology with style and precision with elegance.

Among the guests attending the exhibition was Italian ice hockey champion Carola Saletta, an Olympic athlete at the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games and a Junior Professional Officer at the World Health Organization in Geneva.

Opening the exhibition, which will remain open to the public for ten days, until 1 May, Ambassador Luigi Vignali recalled how Italy has succeeded in “combining comfort, protection and functionality” while “Italian companies have developed their brands — and expanded their global markets — thanks to the international protection of their successful designs.
