The 2016 edition of the UN Bazar has enjoyed a great success.
My deep gratitude goes to the Committee for it’s tireless and enthusiastic engagement.
I would particularly thank the President of the UN Women Guild Nehad Sukayri and the Vice President of the Bazar Farida Al Busaidi, for their full support and commitment.
We have reached this year the amount of 259,000 CHF and a record in the sale of the lottery tickets.This will allow the financing of 52 projects in favor of children in need all around the world, which is, as everybody knows, the purpose of the Bazar.
I would also express our thanks to the UN Office of Geneva, to the Security Staff and to all those who have contributed to the logistics and organisation of the event.
A special word of praise goes to the Permanent Missions in Geneva,that every year allow the success of the Bazar by exhibiting the best products in fashion, handicraft and food of their countries, promoting a better knowledge of our respective cultures and traditions.
The Bazar has become a well known Geneva appointment, that attracts a wide and friendly public.
It serves fully therefore, the objectives of peace, dialogue and cooperation embodied in the UN Charter.
