The Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva met today with the Director General of the International Labour Organizatons, Guy Ryder.
The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the excellent cooperation between Italy and ILO and the “special relationship” – to use wht words of Mr. Ryder – with our country, testified also by the importance given by the Italian Constitution to the concept of work.
ILO’s Director General highlighted the important role of Italy in promoting and advancing the international agenda on social justice and workers’ rights and the strategic importance of the Turin centre in the organization’s activities, identifying possible future developments also in the framework of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of ILO.
Ambassador Cornado, while thanking Director Ryder for the cooperation and leadership granted in the last few years, highlighted the important financial contributions to the budget and the initiatives of the organizations and offered his availability to strenghten cooperation between Italy and ILO on many files of common interest.
