Deputy Minister Marina Sereni presided over the eighth meeting of the National Council for Development Cooperation (CNCS), the body that brings together 54 of the main public and private, “for-profit” and “nonprofit” entities operating in the world of international development cooperation. The CNCS is the main instrument of participation, consultation and proposal introduced by Law 125/2014 reforming the Italian development cooperation system and meets at least once a year to express non-binding opinions on matters pertaining to development cooperation.
The Deputy Minister opened the proceedings by recalling the global repercussions of Russia’s aggression of Ukraine and the impact on partner countries, from food security to the price of raw materials and risks of financial instability. In this situation, Sereni stressed, development cooperation intends to continue to play its part in promoting development, security and peace.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Stefania Craxi, chairwoman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Senator Tatjana Rojc, a member of the Constitutional Affairs Committee, and Deputies Iolanda Di Stasio and Erasmo Palazzotto members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
