The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, presented today in Geneva the “Global Innovation Index (GII) 2023”, an annual exercise classifying the world’s most innovative economies.
At a global level, the report states a general continuity in the path of progressive recovery of the world economy after the years of the Covid-19 pandemic. An upward trend also shared by the Italian economy, which continues to register a recovery in growth, although with lower figures compared to most recent years.
With specific reference to Italy, the GII 2023 places our economy in 26th place out of 132 countries, an improvement of two positions compared to the past year, and confirms, on the one hand, Italy’s positioning among the global leadership in terms of diversification of the national industry as well as of innovation development, especially in industrial design. On the other hand, the report identifies room for improvement for our economy, especially in relation to the ability to attract foreign direct investments.
