“In Italy, in our countries, in Europe, throughout the world, after just over 75 years since the Declaration of Human Rights, it is time to to shake things up and act together. Now is the time to do more and better. For Human Rights. For the right of every woman and every man to be happy”, said the Italian Minister for Disability Ms Alessandra Locatelli, who participated in the 56th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva and delivered a key-note speech at the side event organized by the Permanent Representation of Italy in collaboration with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on “Building a Roadmap Towards Disability-Inclusive Post-2030.”
“Many challenges are waiting for us in the coming months, and they are all important and strategic,” Minister Locatelli stressed. “I am thinking, in particular, of the first G7 in history that will take place in Italy in October, at ministerial level, on the issues of inclusion and disability. We must work all together to continue the discussion on these issues and to value persons with disabilities, as it will certainly happen at the World Summit on Disability in Berlin and just as I hope will also happen at the next G20”.
